2013 Annual Dinner – Collaborating for Justice

PBI-2013-103The Pro Bono Institute hosted its Annual Dinner, themed “Collaborating for Justice,” on November 7, at Gotham Hall in New York. Made possible by Dinner Co-Chairs Tom Russo, AIG; Tom Sabatino, Walgreen Co.; and Wayne Watts, AT&T; and its generous sponsors, the Dinner provided a venue to celebrate the pro bono achievements of our award winners and guests.  Read more about our Co-chairs here.

As in past years, PBI presented its two annual honors – the John H. Pickering and CPBO Pro Bono Partner Awards – and a new award, the first-ever PBI President’s Award.  PBI presented the 2013 Pickering Award to Alston & Bird; the 2013 Partner Award to Hewlett-Packard Company in partnership with Morgan, Lewis & Bockius and the National Veterans Legal Services Program; and the 2013 President’s Award to Deloitte Financial Advisory Services LLP.

Attendees also heard from special guest Crispin Ilombe, a former Congolese Catholic priest, who, with the help of the Georgia Asylum and Immigration Network and Alston & Bird, successfully sought asylum in the U.S. after being persecuted in his home country for speaking out against government corruption.

In case you weren’t able to attend, download the 2013 Annual Dinner Program Book to read welcome messages from PBI Board Chair Jim Jones, PBI President and CEO Esther F. Lardent, the Dinner Co-Chairs, and Association of Corporate Counsel President and CEO Veta T. Richardson.

We sincerely thank our Co-Chairs, sponsors, and guests for their generosity and support.  We hope to see you next year!
