Press Release:
Corporate Pro Bono Announces 100th Challenge Signatory Milestone
Corporate Pro Bono, a partnership project of PBI and the Association of Corporate Counsel (ACC), is proud to acknowledge the 100 major corporations that have demonstrated their dedication to corporate social responsibility through pro bono legal work in signing on to the Corporate Pro Bono Challenge®. The Challenge is a simple, voluntary statement of commitment to pro bono service by legal departments, their lawyers, and staff.
Specifically, the Chief Legal Officers of the Challenge Signatory companies agree to:
- encourage and promote pro bono service by their legal department staff;
- use their best efforts to encourage their staff, including at least one-half of their legal staff, to support and participate in pro bono service; and
- encourage the outside law firms with whom they work to acknowledge publicly their support for pro bono by becoming signatories to the Pro Bono Institute’s Law Firm Pro Bono Challenge®.
Since 2000, CPBO has worked with corporate legal departments, providing support, guidance, and information to aid them in the establishment of in-house pro bono programs. The Challenge is the only national and global benchmark of in-house pro bono performance.
The Corporate Pro Bono Challenge® 100 is an important milestone that recognizes the stature and leadership of companies that have committed to the Challenge and seeks to increase momentum and pro bono culture within the corporate community.
