CPBO at the ACC AM in LA

accam13It’s that time of year again! CPBO will travel to the City of Angels to participate in the 2013 ACC Annual Meeting from October 27-30. At the Meeting, CPBO will host a number of events highlighting in-house pro bono.

Clinic in a BoxSM Program
Monday, October 28 from 7:00 am – 10:30 am
Co-hosted at the Annual Meeting by CPBO, ACC SoCal, Alston & Bird*, and Public Counsel, CPBO’s Clinic in a BoxSM Program offers in-house counsel the opportunity to earn CLE credit and provide a pro bono legal assessment to representatives of Los Angeles area nonprofits. Pre-registration is required to participate.

The Ethics of Pro Bono Practice by In-House Counsel
Monday, October 28 from 4:30 pm – 6:00 pm
This session will discuss the restrictions some states impose on in-house counsel providing pro bono legal services and will consider the ethical and practical issues that impact in-house pro bono. Panelists will discuss confidentiality and client loyalty and avoidance of conflicts. They will also explore current pro bono practices and ethics rules, how and where those rules are changing, and what you can do to make sure you and your law department are in compliance. (CLE ethics credit available in many jurisdictions.)

Pro Bono Breakfast
Tuesday, October 29 from 7:45 am – 9:00 am
Join us for breakfast! Here, you can meet with other in-house counsel interested in pro bono and learn about pro bono trends and best practices from CPBO. Please RSVP by October 16 to CPBO project assistant Eric Florenz if you plan to attend the breakfast.

Meet with CPBO
CPBO would enjoy meeting with attendees when they have free time between programs. If you are interested in sitting down with CPBO for a few minutes to discuss options and initiatives for yourself, your law department, or your chapter, please contact Eric Florenz to set up a time that is convenient for you. Or, stop by the CPBO booth in the exhibit hall to see new resources and chat with the CPBO team.

To find out more about the schedule of events or to learn about in-house pro bono opportunities, contact CPBO Director Eve Runyon. See you in LA!
