This Volunteer Menu highlights the pro bono opportunities that are open to in-house lawyers and legal professionals across financial institutions and insurance companies as part of the 2026 Financial Institution Pro Bono Day® (FIPBD®) event.
The purpose of this Volunteer Menu is to share opportunities that any member of an in-house legal department can sign up for, regardless of their organization. Many participating legal departments also host internal events for their own teams; those opportunities are not included here.
The opportunities listed below include virtual and in-person events, along with details on participation requirements and how to RSVP. While some events can accommodate many volunteers, others may have capacity limits. Please RSVP early if you are interested. This list is updated on an ongoing basis; check back regularly for new opportunities.
A comprehensive list of all FIPBD events and participation will be shared after the event as part of the FIPBD event Impact Summary.
The FIPBD event, organized by Corporate Pro Bono (CPBO), the global in-house project of the Pro Bono Institute (PBI), brings together legal teams from financial institutions and insurance companies to provide pro bono legal assistance to underserved communities, highlighting the impact of in-house pro bono work.

April 30, 12:00 PM – 3:00 PM ET (open to lawyers and legal professionals)
Volunteers will join in-house legal departments, Davis Wright Tremaine, and Legal Aid Chicago to assist clients in preparing their petition for expungement and sealing. A criminal record can significantly hinder someone’s ability to move forward in life. Even a conviction for a minor non-violent offense from decades ago can impact someone’s ability to secure employment, stable housing, and benefits. Expunging or sealing eligible records can reopen doors across society, including access to social services, education, housing, and employment.
The clinic will kick off with a one-hour, CLE-eligible training on how to prepare a criminal expungement petition. After the training, volunteers will work in teams to prepare a petition for expungement and sealing for pre-screened clients. Legal Aid Chicago will provide training materials in advance and will be present throughout the clinic to answer any questions.

Volunteers will help identify real-world resources across the nation—such as victim compensation programs, government support offices, pro bono legal service referral organizations, and pending legislation—that can directly benefit people harmed by cybercrime.
